Pearce revelation at odds with Moyes explanation

|

Stuart Pearce’s outbursts at the end of the last David Moyes West Ham reign and the beginning of this one is bizarre at best and ill timed at worse.

You will recall no doubt that he made it clear the board didn’t speak to him in seven months at the London Stadium last time and this morning chose to reveal that they didn’t want him back this time.

But in revealing such to Talksport he hasn’t really hasn’t done Moyes any favours who told a different story when claiming earlier”We have considered Stuart really strongly, but I think it is probably not [going to happen] this time.”

Yet speaking in an interview with Talksport on Monday morning, Pearce suggested that his return had been blocked as a result of negative comments he made about West Ham’s board of directors in the past.

Pearce said:: “No, it won’t happen. I think the owners felt I was a little bit critical of the regime when we left last time and put the block on it.

Well, the two statements seem to be at odds with each other and frankly if David Moyes is a man dictated to over who he can and can’t employ – particularly given the events last time – I’d be extremely surprised. He really is his own man.

Neither he or Alan Irvine talked publicly about the last time around and one wonders, should we take ‘Psycho’s’ words at face value, whether either would be back in charge had they done so. I’m pretty sure they would have been!!!

So the Talksport interview was a bit weird at a tricky time for Pearce’s two pals. We move on – bring in Joe Cole or Ginge!

Good honesty from Stuart Pearce..no to James Collins Hugh as he is not a coach and as far as I’m aware doesn’t even have his badges, I remember reading joe cole was doing his badges and doing a bit for Chelsea under 16s recently I think..

Given his previous experience, it’s probably more a case of Pearce deciding against any offer from Moyes!

Regarding his comments, let’s be honest, the response of this board – Sullivan in particular – to any form of criticism is to exclude rather than engage.

Am I missing something here ?If you had not renewed a manager’s contract as was the case with David Moyes ,but 18 months later you have a change of heart and want him back .Bearing in mind that it has been plastered all over the media .Even if you despise the Board ,can you imagine G&S giving Moyes a bell and saying :”David !We would really love you to come back and manage the team. Just don’t bring Pearce back, he was too critical ?”Rubbish !They would of bent over backwards to accommodate David Moyes !Only two scenario here .Either Pearce didn’t fancy going back, as he felt that at some point he would of been asked to explain his comments ,which would of been awkward. Or Moyes, did not want to employ him for whatever reason .Then decided to say that the Owners did not want him back. We are more than a football Club ,we are a way of life !COYI!!

Or, if Randolph has his coaching badges, it could him.
Given he’s been been unable to play since November, he will be doubly at home at West Ham.
Might as well give him something to do………..perhaps a job-share with Wilshere?

Don’t see what either of them has said at odds with each other at all. Moyes (being diplomatic) said it probably wasn’t going to happen. Pearce (with more free rein) confirms the reason. Clearly not a deal breaker as Moyes took job with no guarantees on having Pearce too.

    • As I said be v surprised if he wasn’t allowed to choose his own staff. Well Moyes saud he was seriously considered and Pearce said it wasn’t gonna happens. That’s at odds isn’t it?

I think the board are perfectly entitled to decide who they do and don’t employ, for whatever reason they choose. I like SP but I don’t know what he’s like to work with… I don’t think it’s wise for us to take it simply on his opinion as to why, nor his playing/coaching past.

Ginge could be a good shout, but I wonder if he would be too ‘pally’ with the lads having only left recently…?
