Pelle eyes former strike star

West Ham are pursuing out of Salamon Rondan who is out of contract at West Brom next month.

The striker has been on loan at Newcastle where he scored 11 times in 32 appearances for Rafa Benitez’s outfit in the Premier League.

ClaretandHugh has learned he is seen as a serious prospect and has been on manager Manuel Pellegrini’s list of possible arrivals for several months.

In fact Rondon was part of Pellegrini’s Malaga squad when he joined the La Liga outfit in 2010 scoring a total of 25 goals over 71 games in two seasons.

Along with Maxi Gomez, Aleksander Mitrovic and Moussa Marega, the 29 year old is a live prospect to become part of the club’s reshaped strike force next season.

With no fee involved the player would want in the region of £100k in personal terms which with the departure of Andy Carroll and probably Javier Hernandez becomes do-able as the boss looks to add serious firepower to the team.

Absolutely yes. I’ve been dismissive of Rondon in the past, but I think he’s been fantastic at Newcastle. A hard working target man. Definitely good business on a free!

  • Gary Linekar says:

He’s not on a free .His release clause is near to £13M due to West Brom not being promoted
