Manuel Pellegrini’s key message from his last home game presser of this season was: “I want to do next better next time!
The Chilean in reporting that he only had two players injured – Andriy Yarmolenko and Andy Carroll – said:”Since the first week of the season we have options.
And asked about his view of the first season he declared: “I enjoy the Premier League.
I’ve come to a big club and the Premier League is the best league in the world. I’m happy being here and I want to do it better. I hope next season we can do even more.”
He said it was important to win the last home game of the season and added: “It is important for me to finish as high up the table as possible.
If you compare it with last season, it would be an improvement. For the fans and for the staff and the players, it’s good to finish a win in our last game of the season at home.”
And on his transfer window plans he declared: “”I am always planning with the sporting director but we won’t do anything until after the season ends. There are many things we must analyse.
“For me, it’s been a quiet season at West Ham. If we win the next two games we can achieve a better finish, and I think all of us must demand more from ourselves for this club.
“It’s not been a bad season but next season I hope we can improve.”
ClaretandHugh says: “That’s a pretty fair summing up of things from the boss who we reckon has nailed most of the major issues in our minds. However, to claim he has to think about things before moving in the transfer market may just be a little misleading because if he hasn’t made up his mind by now then he is likely to get left behind isn’t he? Caution is the byword at this time of the year but – and there will be surprises no doubt – we imagine his short list of players is pretty well drawn up and settled. It has been a quiet season as he says but that’s for the good as for too many seasons there has been too far much drama associated with West Ham which can be a very destabilising thing. Southampton won’t be a walk in the park but with so many options available I reckon we can go out with a bit of a bang and hopefully another double.
