Pelle prepares his January shopping list

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini remains on the lookout for a striker in the January window although it will almost certainly be a loan deal should it happen.

The Hammers boss is keen to beef up his options up front but at this stage no specific targets have been revealed.

There has been a growing realisation that whilst Michail Antonio is set for a return, another option is required beyond him and Albian Ajeti.

Top targets are always difficult to attract in the January window but  loan options are always available and that would of course be a better option financially at this stage of proceedings.

The boss is also keen to find a central defender but that too would in all probability be on a loan basis with an option to buy should the right player become available was we reported late last week.

A Hammers source told us on the ‘phone: “Both positions are being looked at ahead of the window.”

  1. The January transfer window would be a great chance to bring in loan Declan’s life long friend Mason Mount. They know each others game and would if it worked out having both of them in the same team, I’m sure Mason would want to stay. It would cost a few bob to get the loan deal agreed, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

    • He’s played his way into Chelsea fist team, and one of their best performers. They would not let him go, he woulld not want to go, and creative midfield shouls really not be something we look towards.

  2. It would seem that Ajeti doesn’t come into any plans that MP has regarding team selection and if, as you say, he is looking for other options up front it poses some questions.
Given that he is a similar style player to Chicharito – also a never considered pick – then who actually bought Ajeti?
Husillos & MP have normally been quite clear in the way that they identify suitable players to target. They can’t have got this so wrong can they?
Or was this purchase a case of DS keeping his hand in?
