Pelle puts central defensive decision on hold

Winston Reid will be given time to show that he has lost none of the ability that made him a ‘must’ in the Irons team, whenever fit, prior before his season long injury.

Having been out for a season the discussion over whether he or Angelo Ogbonna could be up for transfer looks superfluous until the winter window.

Whilst Winston was considered a possible departure, at this point there is unlikely to be any buyers buyers until he has proven he is fully fit and were he to be considered for a departure it wouldn’t be until January at least anyway.

And unless or until the manager were to bring in a new central defender that would mean Oggy is likely to remain on the squad as cover for Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena.

Reid is now ‘medically’ fit after suffering a knee injury and set for pre-season which is likely to involve being part of the squad for The Asia Cup Tournament in Hong Kong.
