Pellegrini appointment was lazy says Cundy

Former Chelsea player turned radio host Jason Cundy has called West Ham’s appointment of Manual Pellegrini over a year ago lazy.

Cundy told Talkspofrt radio listeners. “After David Moyes So they bought in Pellegrini, Lazy!, Laxy appointment, just because he won the Premier League. Any manager who goes out to China now I would not touch with a barge pole. It is telling me as a potential club owner, if I owned a football club I would not then go looking for someone who has gone out to China, who has gone out to grass, gone out there to end his career on huge money, good luck to them. But to bring him back to the Premier League  I thought was lazy!”

Cundy was speaking to his partner in crime Manchester United fan Andy Goldstein on the Talk Sport Sports Bar show.

Claret and Hugh say:

Funny how these so-called experts did not share their wisdom sixteen months after his initial appointment, where was Cundy then calling the appointment lazy? It takes a bad run in form with the Chilean winless in six games before the haters come out full of hindsight now calling the appointment a mistake.

Where was the media outcry last year after his appointment? How many West Ham supporters objected to his appointment to replace David Moyes?

Cundy is being controversial to stir things on his radio show to get West Ham fans backs up, maybe he wants to take on Adrian Durham’s like the radio station’s shock jock.

Two years ago Cundy criticised the owners for keeping Slaven Bilic saying they would never achieve Champions League football with the Croatian manager.

That led to David Gold tweeting “Cundy doesn’t k[no]w what he’s talking about”

Time for round two DG!

  1. To be fair to Jason Cundy, he has said from the moment we signed him that Pellegrini was not the right man for the job, and has maintained it all along the line, even when we were doing well.

    John, Wanstead

  2. Jason Cundy you say?

  3. I agree with Hugh, that it’s easy to jump on bandwagon although as John has said, he did say from the outset wasn’t right man for job.
In Pellegrini’s defence, he did well in Spain but at City he got away with it because the team was in place, similar to Grant at Chelsea.
Personally, not a Pellegrini fan and I can’t see us improving under him.
For the sake of the claret & blue masses, I hope I’m wrong and would be more than happy to eat humble pie !
Proof is in the pudding, as they say ( not the pie !).

  4. He’s got that spot on Imho, and I’ve been saying this since we stupidly let Moyes go. How can this joker be in the top 5 best.paid Premier League managers??? Unfortunately, I see another Bilic situation developing here, as we’ll give him a few more months while we lurch towards relegation, then get rid and prey someone like Moyes’ll come and sort it all out

  5. umm! Jason Cundy , 140 odd games in 12 seasons & well known expert in everything WHU ! and as for going out to grass in China to end their career , he’s right , probably best to go to ipswich and portsmouth to do that kinda thing !

  6. I think Cundy is fine with bringing up his initail comments.
it does appear like a “lazy appointment”.
Pellegrini was hoarding in the millions in China and unless he watched every PL game he wouldn’t know the game has moved on. I thought too is he the right man having been in China. That is a lazy decision. I’m sure he didn’t really enjoy it there.
The Palace game really annoys me still, we go 1-0 and crusing but he and they players can’t be motivated enough to go out and finish a poor Palace team off. Ever since we have been getting worse. Pellegrini is not in China now,he deserves to go unless he can get a marked improvement. Results and performance together.
