Pellegrini breaks silence after International break

Manuel Pellegrini has been speaking to the press at Rush Green in his pre match press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Everton.

On team news and injuries Pellegrini says “Hernandez has had a virus and Wilshere felt pain in his ankle two days ago. No chance he will play”

On the Times story about leaking of team news on twitter he said “I am not angry about it. Normally in every team that I manage, the day before the game I work on set pieces and all the players know the day before. I do not keep the team news until four hours before the game.”

Asked whether he still has the board’s support he answered “I know the way they think. I have spoken with all of them before we started the project here. I always continue thinking the same way.”

On his trip back to Chile “I had to go to Chile for 3 or 4 days for personal issues. It is most important to arrive in December with a fresh team.”

On the prospect of losing five games in a row “I don’t worry about the statistics”

On whether he can turn things around “In this moment I trust more than ever in what I do. It’s not the first time in my career I have had bad results. It’s not a good start but we are absolutely confident. Every job is tough. Maybe when you want to do so many changes it can be difficult but I think at West Ham, this is the correct way. We are improving the training ground, brought the players, grown with the stadium.”

  1. In Pelle I trust. I still will even if we end up with no points after 8 games. As long as he keeps experimenting and the performances yield improvements (either in learning what work or doesn’t work) then it’s fine with me. We will not be relegated, and it’ll be fun catching everyone up and passing them, much like Palace did last year. Absolutely no panic.

  2. Not panicking yet however i would like to see improvement each time we play and the Wolves match was like a step back after Arsenal.Far too reliant on Arnie to create and score again.Someone amongst Anderson,Yarmolenko has to step up.May be time to give Xande Silva or Holland a run out.
