Pellegrini gets boost for Cherries clash

Aaron Cresswell is available for the weekend game at the London Stadium although it is not a given he will take over immediately from Arthur Masuaku on the left side of defence.

Cressie was left out of the squad last weekend as the manager Manuel Pellegrini was not ready to take any chances on his fitness last weekend.

But he will come into contention for a place this week although Arthur is probably more likely to start as the manager looks to carry his attacking game to Bournemouth and dominate possession.

The Hammers managed only 35 per cent of that at Anfield and the boss will want to see us step it up considerably against the Cherries.

We were told this evening that Cresswell is read for action, assuming no setbacks in training, and it will be fascinating to see how Pellegrini works his options in a match from which the team will want to provideĀ  an immediate winning reaction.

  1. Will definitely be interesting, does he go all out attack in which case its Fredericks and Masuaku or a bit more cautious in which case its Zaba and Cressie, I would personally go with Zaba for sure as he is just a lot better player than Fredericks, he is also still super fit but it would be a risk because Fredericks confidence might take a knock to be dropped so early ?

    • First home game of the season against a beatable side, so I think we shoud stick with Masuaku and Fredericks if we want to attack. This’ll be a good chance to see if Fredericks is able to do what we signed him for, which is bomb up and down the wing delivering decent crosses. Masuaku has got the match sharpness over Cressie, so I’d give him the start and bring Cressie on after 60-70 mins. Think we will win at the weekend COYI.

  2. Pelle wants to play a high line.

Zaba will not be able to cope with this, as he is too slow to play in this way.
Don’t right Fredericks off after one game against the most attacking team in the world. (you will see)

  3. Only one choice. Cresswell in Masuaku on the bench or further forward.
We must sort out the defense before anything else. It’s no good looking adventurous while we go down.
Cresswell showed last season that he has more effect going forwards than Masuaku, even though Masuaku has improved his passing game during the summer.
