Manuel Pellegrini has given a decisive statement on Grady Diangana’s future – he is staying at West Brom.

Discussion over his possible destination has been going on for a couple of weeks with suggestions that he could come back to the London Stadium.

Indeed one piece of loose speculation was that he would be involved in a swap deal in January with Nathan Holland going in the opposite direction.

That was seized on by many media outlets and websites but as CandH revealed it was always a non starter and the manager today confirmed that Diang will stay in the care of former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic’s  until the end of the loan deal.

That at least will keep Baggies fans happy but there is absolutely no chance of the Championship leaders signing him to a long term deal in the midlands.

Pellegrini’s declaration on the winger suggests that he’s happy with the current midfield situation at the club despite it being lack lustre over the recent slump.

He told the pre-match Burnley presser: “I think that Grady is doing what we wanted for him, same as Josh Cullen. He’s a player without any doubt will be part of West Ham in the future.

“I trust a lot in Grady and I think it was better for him to go and play 40 games this season and be ready for next season, than to play here just some games. I think he must finish his season where he is.”
