Pellegrini has become a toxic byword

By CandH blogger Allen Cummings

‘THERE’S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT’!

An old saying my dear old mum used to recite to me as a child whenever she wanted me to do something – not in my own time – but right now!

I make no apology for directing those words at the two men who have the power to act on our behalf! The time has come for David Sullivan and David Gold to call time on the Pellegrini era!

The current manager is a dead man walking. He’s become a toxic byword that has the potential to become very ugly indeed unless action is taken. There is no way back for him. He has to go – and he has to go NOW!

The longer the Chilean remains at the club the worse the situation is going to become. The players have clearly lost confidence in the manager – and at the same time lost confidence in themselves!

In happier days!

It’s obvious from their body language. They are at an all time low. That feeling is matched by the supporters off the pitch, whose patience with the man in charge has evaporated completely.

There is not only frustration but a real and growing anger at events. And that is what worries me! We know only too well how these things can escalate! The club we all love doesn’t deserve to see this situation develop into action likely to drag our name through the mud yet again!

It doesn’t make me a board lover to say the two Davids gave us what we wanted when we wanted it. When they appointed Pellegrini he was a big name, had a reputation for playing football a certain way, dare I say the West Ham Way, had Premier League experience at the highest level – and was a winner.

The ingredients were right – but sadly the proof hasn’t been in the pudding! Now is definitely the time to pull the plug and start afresh!

I have no real idea how quickly these things can happen but it has to be the quicker the better. Even if it means bringing in a short-term solution – dare I suggest maybe our Trev could even step in again for a few games – things just can’t be allowed to get any worse!

‘Action speaks louder than words’ is another old saying. That’s exactly what we want – and deserve!

  1. Seeing as the season in a downward spiral I can only suggest bringing in halajko from are under 23s for a couple of games it would be nice seeing him given some youngsters a go! Stop wasting money on half decent players and start producing some! Allerdyce chucked the youth under the bus in a cup game humiliation! Bilic showed us Oxford then after one bad game chucked him to the wolves! And pellegrini just doesn’t bother playing any it’s a disgrace!! Zola was the only recent manager to give youth a chance!!

  2. Just looking at the number of comments under each blog shows the fire growing with the fans. A couple have tried to defend the situation. I have not, but I willl now!

    We’re in shambles, no doubt.

We got what we asked for and it was great. Until it was not. Now we are pointing fingers at problems and the people causing them, and rightfully so.

What I do miss is a sense of ownership. Not talking about the owners, but at us, the fans. Most of us supported the actions taken (Pellegrini, Anderson, Haller – we were even positive about Fornals. Diop, Balbuena – the story goes on..).

What I’m missing is the fans backing the decisions WE cried out for. Haller not veing helped, Fornals “clearly” playing off position = horrible tactics, we say. We knew Pellegrini’s style, and he brought the players. It has not worked out the last couple months, granted. Those of you that disagreed with appointed him and “gave up” when Haller scored eatly campaign can be excused this post. We cried out and revolted, we got our will, but we can’t back it during a couple tough months??

There’s another saying: point a finger at someone, and 3 fingers point straight back at you (or something, might translate bad, try pointing and you get the idea).

*Alan, you are one lf my favorites here.collected reasoning and arguments, which is why I chose to comment on your post specifically.

    • Sorry but not all of us asked for this Lok.I for one wanted Moyes to stay as did a lot of others.Never thought Pellegrini was right for our club.Just look at his demeanour lack of emotion and turgid press conferences.

      • 64 – post not aimed at you or the others whom did not feel good about appointing Pellegrini in the first place, but for those of us who did beleive it was a step in the right direction. You get to have the “I told you so,” but so many fans do not, which is the point inwas trying to make.

At the end of the day we’re all in it together, hoping for change in some form or another. #coyi

    • Rubbish

I didn’t ask for no effort no desire no heart!! I didn’t ask for Roberto Sanchez Adjeti…remind me of when it was good ? Was it beating Norwich, Watford or the worse Utd side in a lifetime! Maybe it was the draw at Brighton when they battered us but we hung on!

    • Many thanks Lok. I try to be as level-headed as I can. Opinions are my own and I am happy to express them here. COYI

  3. Get rid of Pelligrini now . Bring in the U23 manager for a spell untill the vacancy is filled .

  4. So True.He is finished so why prolong the agony.Saturday showed us the players are done with him too.Halajko as interim boss.

  5. 100% agree… Pelligrini must go. Became frustrated with him last season, when we took a dip … and he went home in the International break instead of focusing on the team.
Yes, he has got to go now … and take Roberto, Jack W, Sanchez, Fornals, Ajeti and Reid with him. This would make space for the new manager to get in new recruits.
And yes why not our Und23 manager. He is doing a sterling job with the younger lads. Holland has already scored more than all the 1st team strikers ????

  6. I really don’t agree. I’m starting to think the west ham way is… hurray we have a new manager… then… he’s got to

  7. Agree whole heartedly Allen he has to go NOW. .but as for bringing Sir Trevor back is a no no as I don’t think he accept anyway..all for Halajko as in trim and see if they can temp pooch ..ok he didn’t win a trophy but he took them up a level with not a lot of expenditure and dare I say they were capable of decent football at times ..get moving Daves

  8. Last night’s result was very sobering a) because it put us into 17th place and b) it emphasized just how poor our result against Newcastle was

Unless something is done we will be relegated

  9. Pellegrini’s tactics are one dimensional with Haller as the one up front system he plays time and time again he (Pellegrini) never deviates from his one set plan. There lies the supporters frustration and to me the players? We need a manager thats three dimensional with different formations to suit the opposition we play, or how the players could adapt to the different game plan to the different opponents we play? All of today’s professional players are coached to accept to play in different systems and sometimes different positions?? Once again a big failure on Pellegrini’s part . So the board should ask a few of the players they trust, to tell the truth on this situation and act and accept the consequences of the outcome. ( That’s if they haven’t already) but by putting a interim manager in place like the under 23″s is a big ask on his behalf but fan’s are calling for desperate measures for a desperate situation in there veiw? Pellegrini needs to be told to change his system of one dimensional play, and to accept today’s three dimensional set formations ? or perhaps the under 23″s manager can help in coaching him ?? Other wise as the saying goes “if things don’t change they stay as they are ” (one of my old mums sayings) Alan😊
