Pellegrini makes mind up on midfielder

Josh Cullen has finally seen his immediate future settled with a move to Charlton Athletic on a loan until the end of the season.

The young midfielder had always wanted to remain at the London Stadium but never closed to door on a move which will see him ply his trade under former Iron Lee Bowyer whilst linking up with former Hammers teammate  Lewis Page at The Valley.

Josh appeared he may be on the brink of  Hammers breakthrough with manager Manuel Pellegrini taking him away with the pre-season first team squad and giving him his chance in the friendlies that followed.

But in the end he didnt quite show enough and as a result has now been loaned out to the 14th placed League One outfit.

The 22-year-old has performed well in League One previously, winning Players’ Player of the Year honours at Bradford City after inspiring the Bantams to the Play-Off final in 2016/17.

The current Republic of Ireland U21 Player of the Year, Cullen has played nine times for the Hammers, most recently in a 1-1 Premier League draw at Chelsea in April this year.

We wish him well.

  1. I think playing under Bowyer will be a great move for him, he is not ready this season but maybe with a full season at Charlton he will be ready to push for one of those central midfield slots, if he gets to add a bit of Bowyers aggression to his already strong all round game I can only see it being a good thing for his future.
