Pellegrini on Mourinho: “He’s not my friend”

Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he and Jose Mourinho are not friends!

The mild-mannered Hammers boss – speaking at his press conference prior to the game today that he believes Spurs were “a very good team with some very good players.”

And speaking of Mourinho’s appointment he added: “Pochettino was a manager who did a lot of good work for a lot of years for Tottenham.

Now they have another experienced manager, Jose Mourinho. “Everyone has his option to play football the way they want, to say what they want to say. He’s not my friend, but he’s not my enemy.

We have different ways of thinking about football. “I think he only took charge yesterday, so probably we will see Tottenham playing in a similar way.”

Pellegrini may have been prompted to make his comments about the new Spurs manager following a conflict back in 2013.

He had refused to shake hands with the then Chelsea boss after he had jumped into the crowd at the end to celebrate his team’s win.

At the time he had said he didn’t expect anything different from him although Mourinho added that if he had done something wrong he apologised for it.
