Pellegrini seeks Payet views from squad

|

Manuel Pellegrini will continue holding talks with the Hammers squad over the next few days about their attitude towards a Dimitri Payet return to the club but the prospect is becoming less and less likely.

The Hammers undoubtedly have the chance to clinch some sort of deal for the 31 year old but with opinion pretty well split among the fans, it looks an option the club will be reluctant to take.

Reports are that Marseilles want in excess of the £24 million they paid Hammers for him on his return to the club but the Irons would only be around to pay half of that if considering the possibility at all.

A two or three year deal would see no sell-on value in the player and we understand the very top price we would pay is around £14 million having first brought him to the Premier League for£10 million.

Hammers insiders have made it clear to us that paying more than we sold him for would be a total non starter and although Pellegrini’s feedback from senior professionals would be listened to a deal was unlikely.

He got a serious injury in the Europa final, has suspect hammys, is 31 and fat and treated ya disgracefully. Marseille obviously realise they’ve made a big boo boo buying him back and want to cash in and maybe it’s a conspiracy by them and Payet to get a big pay day and as soon as he’s back he’ll be long term injured. No thanks Dimi. Once bitten twice shy.
