Pellegrini short on words of comfort

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini spent less than three minutes in the press room at Turf Moor before making his getaway.

The gaffer was in no mood to sling it out with reporters beyond his contractual obligation.

Pellegrini told the media “I think it is difficult to analyse that performance. We conceded goals but we tried to play. The other team scored goals that are not made.”

Asked about his team weakness in defending set-pieces the 66-year-old said “Yes it is one of the big problems that we are having. We conceded the first goal from a corner that wasn’t a corner and it’s a refereeing mistake. When you concede from set pieces it is a concern about why we are doing it. There are so many distractions. Newcastle and Crystal Palace was the same but after that we tried to play in the way we expected.”

He refused to talk about Roberto’s performance telling a reporter “I don’t analyse individual performances. As a team we lost the game, not individual performances.”

The manager added:ย  “When players are not in their best moment then of course I worry about that. But he has experience so we will see after that”

Reminded that his team was winless in seven games the Chilean finished his interview by saying “Of course when you have six or seven games without a win you are concerned. You never know in this league which games are most difficult. We need to try to work harder. I hope that in these 15 days we work and see what happens after.

  1. Work all you like mate, as you keep stating every week but we’re going down with you in charge. Also, a “moment” is no more than a couple of seconds – about time someone told you !! ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

  2. Probably the worst west ham goalkeeper I have ever seen, signed by MP
Possibly the worst two full backs ( just given new contracts) and centre backs I have seen for years.
Slowest, and least competitive midfield for years.
Forwards – we don’t have any.
MP spent ยฃ125m in 2 years and wasted pretty much all of it.
Light weight, no passion , not interested in playing for the shirt.
long journey home and honestly the most unprepared team with no plan and no idea.
    Manager should go.

    • Difficult not to agree with every word. Team set up to fail with 1 up front every week. Full backs are just dreadful. Cannot believe Gold agreed to extend contracts of Arthur, Cresswell and Zaba. Zaba OK as a coach but he is so slow that playing him is a joke, even as a sub. Neither Arthur know how to defend. This puts pressure on CB’s who have no confidence in the goalie or the FB’s and it’s no surprise that we concede.
