Pellegrini…the fans have their say

Ok, after a night’s sleep the doubts linger on and even start to build!

There has been no bigger supporter of Manuel Pellegrini than me. From the moment he was appointed until the start of this season and beyond I have believed we are on our way into the top seven.

But although for many the money spent has not been enough, it’s been the most in our history and we have the right to feel  we should be a lot better than we are at the moment.

Sheffield United are undoubtedly a decent team, the record shows it, but they were there for the taking yesterday and we failed.

Whether you put it down to the players or the manager is up to each to decide but at the end of the day in every job the buck stops at the top.

Should we not get a win against Newcastle there can be little doubt that Pelle will be in huge trouble with the fans.

In the meanwhile here’s some of the many responses we received at the ClaretandHugh FB Group following yesterday’s draw.

The group is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/

O Pellegrini is failing in my estimation – I’m not sure he knows what he’s doing – he’s losing his genius aura and just becoming another manager who iss struggling with what he’s got available to him – why did he take Snoddy off – no idea! – why did he keep  Yarmolenko on – no idea! why did he take Anderson off – no idea!

O One upfront at home v Sheffield United? Joke. If Pellegrini refuses to change the system, it’s time to change the manager.

O Incredibly poor substitutions from Pellegrini. Yarmolenko was right in front of me in 2nd half and really seemed to be lacking energy, but he took Anderson off who was all over them.

O I wonder if we could award the gaffer a mark for his substitutions, I’d give him 3. No way should Snoddy have been substituted he was having a decent game.

O Sheffield United are unbeaten in their last 14 away games – there’s a reason for that! Our build-up created several chances that should have been put away. That was the difference yesterday. It’s a fine line between scapegoat and hero. The attitude of the team was 200% better than last week!

  1. Personally I think manager has to go we can not continue defeat after a game to another we want winning results and if he can’t control that than I think West Ham should look eisewhere and start bring in someone eise to manage us someone who knows in and out and I certainly don’t think he knows what he’s doing off. I’m going to game against Newcastle Saturday and if we have another defeat like that than I have no faith in the manager what so ever he needs to go sorry Pellegrini it just that you don’t have faith in working with us and I don’t know what eise to say to you is thanks for joining us it’s been a pleasure now pack your bags and go and manage somewhere eise COYI

  2. Ok Tony you are entitled to your opinion. Can you name a manger to replace him at the moment
    Realistc options please 😀

    • Ok LJ , I’ll help out Tony here … David Moyes ., or evening JM .

      • Why don’t we get Germany manager he’s really good at it

      • Moyes or JM ..really ? Ok JM might bring results but you be bored once we go 1 up and sit back for rest of game and hope we don’t concead this is whu not chelsea or man utd of few years back plus he would want 300 + million to make us like that
Moyes 😂😂😂 really I mean really

      • David Moyes….. really? He’s already proved a poor appointment. The only things he did was get us working harder and converting Arnie to a striker. He would have set up not to lose the game. MP ain’t perfect but I don’t think Moyes is an upgrade? I think most West Ham fans would disagree with you if you do.?

  3. What I find difficult to understand is the bloody minded persistence in using a playing style that just doesn’t work.
The fact that he either can’t or won’t mix it up tactically is worrying, as is his recent team selection and use of substitutes.
He said, on taking the job, that he won’t fail in this project. It therefore makes you wonder just what the project is!!!

  4. Our dreams of Europe are going up in smoke . Maybe even gone already . Personally I think we have the players to achieve it but with Pelligrini and his persistence in putting the bus in reverse it’s getting harder and harder to see it happening .The so called “ big team mentality “ has not been seen and seems to be getting further and further away . It’s time for Pelligrini to change his stance and wake up to The reality that relying on one up front just isn’t working .
If he is incapable of realizing The obvious he should leave . He has the tools in his box but doesn’t know how to use them .

  5. The most experienced manager that the hammers ever have had,Real Madrid, champion with city, very successful with Villarreal, Malaga, ect,he can’t get into the pitch & play, the players need to show.more efforts & justified their salaries

  6. Some of his transfer business is very questionable as is his tactical thinking? Why spend 20 or so million on Fornals when Grady Diangana was doing that position as good or better? Could have used the money on a 2nd better striker?? And as for getting Sanchez in what was that about?? ( keeping south American players employed??) Such a waste of money in wages. He’s (one plan A) tactical use of playing is so frustrating that he does not seem to no any other formation?? Ie like changing to 3 at the back with wing backs would offer a plan B but no that’s never going to seem to happen??? So what we are seeing is attack attack tippy tappy football (and in my opinion ) one touch to many in front of goal and a defensive midfield and defence struggling to cope when wingers or outer midfielders don’t track back. So yes I am getting frustrated with Mr Pellegrini!!!

  7. So we have a few bad games and its time to sack the manager.. and start again.. a new manager would need time to put his stamp on the club and get in his players.. just set us back another season at least.

We are a far cry from a team battling to stay up.. we comfortably finish top 10.. but still our fans are so so negative and like we deserve top 6.. we arent the only club improving.

  8. Said it many times. We won’t finish any higher than last season. We havnt improved the squad or the way we go about things on the pitch.

The most irritating thing is throwing the cups for it. A cup run to a semi or a final would make a huge difference to the fans. That or maybe giving some of our younger players a chance now and then.

  9. Pellegrini is the best manager for us despite this difficult period. Antonio will make a huge difference when he returns and all this doom n gloom will quickly be forgotten.

  10. Its not clicking on the pitch. Not sure its his fault but he does chop and change a lot.One stat i did not know mentioned on MOTD last night is that we have not won a game in October since 2016.Last season we has a dreadful start, this time a great one and again an awful October.Midfield is definately missing something and Haller looks isolated for starters.
