Pellegrini waits on Antonio while updating squad fitness

Manuel Pellegrini has delivered updates on recovering players with a decision being taken on the most immediate  worry – Michail Antonio – tomorrow (Sat).

The manager gave news of Lukasz Fabianski,  Manuel Lanzini and Michail  and  anticipates that Fabianski and Lanzini will be back by the end of the month as revealed on Claretandhugh earlier this week.

He said: “We continue with Lukasz Fabianski his recovery, and also Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio – the three of them we must continue watching.

That of course does not fully tally with the explanation ahead of the Wolves match that because he has had a long time off Michail would perhaps see his action limited.

Thus it seems reasonable to accept that rumours he has a slight groin strain may be correct although the manager refused to go any further into the situation.

He added: “Lukasz and Manu will not be ready until the end of the month, maybe. We will see tomorrow if Antonio tomorrow is fit for this [Monday’s] game.”

Jack Wilshere, whose last Premier League appearance came during West Ham’s game against Everton in mid-October, and defender Winston Reid, who played 90 minutes against Brighton U23s for the development squad last week are both training with the first team squad.

  1. If Antonio does not play God forbid.I cannot see us scoring even against a terrible Arsenal team at the moment. And That is a damning indictment of where we are right now as a club.On the plus side defeat on Monday would almost certainly mean Pellegrini finally gets the chop.As mentioned before the fact that we are so reliant on Antonio and Fabianski shows how poor the squad rebuilding has been since he arrived and we are stuck with a plethora of very mediocre and one or 2 truly awful players.

  2. Pellegrini has to go.
Every week we hear the same old words, the same old clichés and the same old excuses. He reckons we deserved something from the Wolves game!. Christ, we must have been watching a different game.
He and his sidekick Husilos have presided over some terrible signings that we are now paying dearly for. The main problem is that they have bought no one that can inject pace into the team and that was clearly demonstrated against Wolves. And don’t gorget the butter-fingered goalie that they inflicted on the club.
We could mention Hallier, Wilshire, Fornals, Yarmolenko (who we carry every time he plays), Sanchez, and so on.
I rest my case. The pair of them should go tomorrow!!!

  3. We have to beat Arsenal we need to see the effort & performance we saw against Chelsea that togetherness . As or signings every club makes mistakes in the transfer market . However I think Fornals will be good for us I saw better stuff against Wolves & he will only get better with more time so I don’t think he’s a mistake he’s gonna be a good player . Same for Haller we need to see him step up and we also need to play to his strengths .and put players in their best position . I like Anderson in that free role he offers so much more from there . Anyway I would love to see the lads up for it and give it everything to beat Arsenal come on lads . COYI ⚒

  4. With those comments, you are obviously a personal mate of the old geezer, or are in need of a decent pair of glasses! Sack MP, and get those useless players our of this club, is the only way forward…. not tomorrow……NOW

  5. This is awful..the club is just under a big black cloud and nothing will change until he is gone …what do they think will happen if we wait 2 games ..how sad when the club is pinning alk there Hope’s on Antonio …nothing is going to change until we change something…Leicester got it right in the end………..this is painful

  6. Watching the wolves game they looked far fitter than ours. Same goes for all of our previous diabolical games. Do we need to train harder? We seem to be last out to warm up and first back in. Is this not down to Pelle to sort out. If we can all run for 95 mins we may have a better chance of winning. Bring on the under 23s at least they will give there all.
