Pellegrini’s No 2 a serious hardman

|

Arentine hardman Rubén Cousillas is likely to join new West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini as the assistant boss at the London Stadium.

Former goalkeeper Cousillas was his assistant at both Hebei China Fortune and Manchester City where he gained a reputation as a no nonsense coach who takes no rubbish from anybody.

Leading Manchester freelance journalist and City season ticket holder Scott Loney who covers the club and United for national newspapers told us: “He’s as hard as nails and had a fearsome reputation on the City training ground. The players took no liberties whatsoever,

“He is Pellegrini’s serious confidante and takes no rubbish from anywhere. He and the manager are totally involved in everything that goes on in training.”

He has in fact been with the manager since is earliest days in coaching and management, with Cousillas joining him in 1998 at San Lorenzo where the pair struck up a great working partnership and have worked togetger ever since at River Plate , Villareal, Real Madrid and Malaga. He then joined him at City as co -assistant, alongside Brian Kidd.
