West Brom are eyeing a replacement for Matheus Pereira.
But whilst the midfielder is being regularly linked with the Hammers Claretandhugh understands there have been no formal talks between the two clubs beyond an early inquiry about his availability.
There have been no proper bids for the player but there is interest from a number of other clubs including Saudi side Al Hilal which looks the most unlikely of destination for a player seemingly arriving at his peak.

They are said to be interested in Derby attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence, who could be spirited away from Pride Park.
Albion are said to be open to selling both Pereira and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone this summer as they look to balance the books, and the Hammers could subsequently wait and see the former’s asking price drop in the next few days.
