Persistent Moyes refuses to give up on target

David Moyes has not entirely given up his hopes of signing Filip Kostic.

CandH and other sites have reported that the player looks set to remain at Eintracht Frankfurt for the final year of his contract before becoming a free agent.

The Hammers have launched a bid but the player’s manager Oliver Glasner believes there is little chance of Kostic joining the Hammers despite us having met the £12.75m asking price.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Glasner claimed that he didn’t know what would happen until September 1st, but that as of today he was certain the 29 year old would stay in the Bundesliga.

That was the same response as we received at the London Stadium when we inquired as to whether a bid had been launched.

However, we have learned since that Moyes remains very keen to bring the player in and the club is attempting to put a deal together which could tempt the left sided midfielder.

Moyes is persistent in the extreme when seriously fancying a player as was the case when landing Kurt Zouma from Chelsea after it looked as though he had missed out,

  1. we all know how this works, don’t we? he’s in the last year of a contract so the fee won’t be high. we try to get him gow we got Zouma. we put a few more £ in his pocket. it’s all a matter of how much can the guy NOT resist? right, Forest!?

    • Angelino makes sense. He’s quality, has prem experience, and Newman signed him for Citeh. Can see this one actually happening, as player now 2nd choice at RBL. Fingers crossed. We need a LB more than any other position.

  2. I still think this guy is over priced for his age and has no resale value. I can’t believe we are a week to go before you season and will havnt filled a few of our problem spots

  3. Ex said that the club are resigned to the fact that the player is very unlikely to leave and will instead run his contract down and leave on a free, maybe we should go back in for him in Feb after the next window when he can sign a pre-contract.

  4. Looking at RB Leipzig’s Angelino on youtube who will be replaced by one of our former targets David Raum, he looks like a perfect replacement for Masuaku, super fast, can score free kicks, really whips the crosses in, so we should go all in for him either on loan or permanently.

  5. This has to stop. 18 months wasted chasing Lingard. Kostic was never going to sign I said this at the start. But no we continue to pursue a player that doesn’t want to sign. I would support the board taking control of situations like this for the best interests in the club and telling the manager no ,there are other players move on
