Phillips hopes fading

|
West Ham‘s promising run came to an abrupt end at Old Trafford, falling 3-0 to Manchester United and extending their 2024 winless streak. Worryingly, hopes for a stabilizing influence in Phillips have quickly faded.

Phillips hopes fading

His debut saw him concede possession leading to Bournemouth’s goal, and yesterday he repeated the error, allowing Alejandro Garnacho to seal the win. His 18-minute cameo saw him lose possession seven times and win only two duels, raising questions about his role at West Ham and potential England inclusion.

Phillips hopes fading

While unlucky to be behind at half-time, David Moyes‘ men face mounting concerns, with January signing  Phillips and veteran defender Vladimir Coufal enduring forgettable performances.

While Coufal has been a reliable attacking outlet with five assists, his defensive vulnerabilities were laid bare. Failing to win a single duel or tackle against United, he allowed Marcus Rashford free rein down the left. While his attacking efforts with crosses showed promise, they could not compensate for his defensive lapses.

This defeat marks West Ham’s first in six games, but their European aspirations face a challenge. With several teams vying for the same spot, Moyes needs answers.

We do remain in a decent position. But addressing these concerns and finding  some answers will be crucial if we are to achieve anything this season.

Thought about writing a big reply, but what’s the point? Moyes doesn’t care about other people’s opinions, and judging from the recent response to your email, neither does the board. We have no choice but to leave them to ride roughshod over our club.

Seems the only way to get our views across is by staying away. 🙁
