The Hammers have been cautious to reveal many details of any deal until now explaining to us no more than that he was one of several targets.

But today the news has broken with the player arriving back in UK tomorrow to have his Hammers medical. We understand, however, that there is no option to buy at the end of the season .

With just four  Premier League appearances behind him this term, the defensive midfielder is likely to wait on the side lines for a couple of matches if David Moyes is true to form.

He is clearly seen as part pf a defensive shield at the back alongside Edson Alvarez and with the option to buy at £35 million not in place whether it is a great deal is questionable.

It can be assumed that Tomas Soucek will be the starting eleven victim with James Ward-Prowse being pushed into a more attacking role.
