West Ham’s hopes of signing former Barcelona midfielder Roberto has been dealt a blow. The player’s decision to join Como in Serie A appears to have closed the door on a potential move to East London.
It appears the deal with Como, which will involve a second year contract should the club remain in Serie A this season, has already been agreed. The news is far from a ‘bitter blow’ as some have described and I doubt Roberto was much more than a back-up transfer option.
While the Hammers have enjoyed an incredible transfer window this summer, but it is clear Tim Steidten remains keen on further midfield reinforcements. The club’s midfield options have already been strengthened with the arrival of Guido Rodriguez, and further purchases may not be necessary, therefore Roberto’s decision is unlikely to impact the West Ham transfer juggernaut too much.
West Ham’s focus can now shift to other transfer targets, as we continue to put the finishing touches to the squad for the upcoming season.
Steidten has been anything but shy in his recruitment approach this summer, and you would not expect that to let up anytime before the window shuts at the end of the month. With Julen Lopetegui also hinting at more players arriving during today’s Palace presser, we could be in for an exciting finale.
I don’t mind the odd one but the site is currently flooded with way to many gossip style articles Simon. Perhaps a round up article with a follow up with any that are actually credible would work better. Your opinion piece articles are generally better though.
