PL summer window spend could be an all-time low

David Moyes’ preference for dealing in the home transfer market and his boast that he has real knowledge of Championship players could be of huge importance to the Hammers this summer.

The general feeling from a ClaretandHugh survey among several clubs suggests – not surprisingly – that with the exception of cash laden Manchester City and Chelsea – very little high price action will take place.

Clubs are facing big cut backs in the Sky and general TV money as the  season almost certainly comes to a premature close leaving them well behind on revenue streams which would normally cover shortfalls.

Should nine of the 38 scheduled games not be played that nearly a quarter of the expected revenue missing which would normally be used to pay the wages of players.

In the Hammers case that works out to around to between £2.5 million to £3 million when National Insurance payments are included.

It means that club owners will by and large be keeping the clubs afloat on their own funds with no other method of bringing cash into the club and that transfer window spends across all clubs will be at an all time low.

We were told on the phone: “Any ideas that clubs will be creating ANOTHER record spend in the transfer market this summer can be firmly ruled out – no club will have the cash to get involved in that.

“And with nobody knowing when the game will return many clubs – notably at the lower level are facing a uncertain futures.”

  1. Ha ha ha that’s convenient,.. surely it would be a good time to buy players if no one else is..why dont they use some of there own billion, and get it back from the club in the future, with no interest 😂if they love west ham so much ..I don’t think that’s unreasonable everybody wins 👍
