West Ham’s Alphonse Areola could be replaced by Lucas Chevalier in the France squad following the loss of his first-team place to Lukasz Fabianski.

Areola has struggled to impress between the sticks this season for the Hammers, and he hasn’t started the last two games under Julen Lopetegui.

Despite West Ham’s humbling 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last Saturday, the score line could have been much worse had it not been for two superb saves by Fabianski near the end of the game.

It’s likely that the former Polish international will continue in goal when the Irons face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Further exclusion from the first team may persuade French boss Didier Deschamps to consider dropping Areola in favour of Chevalier, who has excelled for Lille this season.

While Areola was expected to thrive under Lopetegui’s ball-playing style, his distribution has disappointed, and he’s shown a weakness at his near post.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

When did Areola last actually play for France? Mostly he just seems to sit on the bench.

Every one of our players look a complete shadow of themselves and have no confidence!

That is down to one man alone – the manager!
