Player Ratings: West Ham 2 Arsenal 2

Gonzo hands out the marks

Fabianski:6 Hard to rate. Aside from picking the ball out of his new twice at the beginning of the game, Fabianski had very little to do.

Coufal:8 Such a tough task having to mark the excellent Martinelli but eventually got to grips with his man. His throw-ins caused Arsenal’s defence a lot of problems.

Zouma:8 Under pressure for long periods of the game, made some excellent clearances.

Kehrer:7 Nervous start as he immediately passed the ball to White in a dangerous area. Made some decent tackles thereafter and created a goal for Jarrod Bowen. Some impressive moments.

Cresswell:6 Caught ball watching early on and had poor communication with Benrahma for both early goals. Targeted by Arsenal, completely unable to lock down his side of the defence. Would have been pleased as West Ham grew into the game and lessened his defensive duties. Not all bad though, Cresswell finished the game strongly.

Rice:8 Immediately pressed Arsenal and won the ball twice within the first minute. Rice tried his very best. Won the ball back then quickly gave the ball to Paqueta who won a penalty. Impressive performance.

Soucek:6 Poor Soucek was a bystander for much of the first 30 mins but he won some crucial headers and tackles. The goals might have deserted him but he was in full warrior mode.

Paqueta:7 Clever first touch and movement to win West Ham a penalty. Poor start to the first half but like most of the team finished the first 45 strongly. Always looking for the killer pass. Almost gave Arsenal a goal with a sloppy pass.

Bowen:8 Struggled as Arsenal overloaded the flank. Required to defend for long periods but finished the first half looking dangerous. Scored a fine goal in the 55 min as he was first to anticipate Kehrer’s lofted pass. Made a goal saving defensive header.

Bowen scores against Arsenal

Benrahma:6 Failed to track Ben White for Arsenal’s opener. Similar story for Arsenals second on 9 minutes. Dispatched a penalty clinically to bring the score back to 2-1. Fabulous ball for Bowen on 77 mins.

Antonio:8 Looked like having the beating of Ben White but it was all he could do to win a free kick such was his isolation in the first 20 mins. Missed a header from a set- piece, grew steadily in influence. Conceded a penalty for handball which Saka missed. At times caused havoc in the Arsenal back-line. Had a great chance to win the game in the 81st minute.

Downes: On for Paqueta as part of a double substitution.

Cornet: 87th min Sub for the exhausted Antonio.

Fornals: 90th min sub for Benrahma

Kehrer, aside from the error early on, had a superb game for us today! Definitely his best so far in my opinion! He got an assist, broke the play and intercepted many times, won several aerial duels and pressured Jesus enough to avoid a tap in at 2-2. Was scared when I saw the lineup, but he most definitely proved me wrong

Great game. Could, maybe should have won it in the end. Don’t tell me those players are not fighting for it. Great character to come back from 2 nil against this years Arsenal team.

2-0 & it looked like a rugby score was coming, but the response was quality despite Souceks lack of.I dont know why DM insists on starting him.Coufals performance has improved along with Bowen and Mickey(should have scored to win it).A point against the Arse’ is better than the usual defeat & that coming after playing in Belgium on thurs,so well done.

Sometimes despite the sea of Toxicity that we are forced to swim in as supporters, where the facts become insignificant, the players put much of this nonsense to the sword. As a supporter, I seek the positive rather than the negative.

A big well done to the players for proving so many wrong.

Agree for the most part, but I just don’t see how you can give Soucek a 6! Win-tinted goggles perhaps 🙂 He was typically slow, gave away fouls and largely watched the game pass him by. A 3 tops. Lovely guy perhaps, but we are a 10-man team when he plays, causing more bad than good.

And Paqueta was great – like a wily operator in the favelas of Brazil! But his first touch for the penalty was poor… the reaction was clever… assuming he hoped to try and score…

Possibly the best performance ofvthecseasonnin the PL. Much better but you still have to ask how much better it would be with a Fornals or Lanzini in midfield. Sorry to keep saying but but Soucek brings nothing to the team. It is possible he even lost more headers than he won today. I thought Coufal was outstanding. He is a really top defender. I liked Paqueta today too and?Antonio worked his socks off. Bowen too. I thought Soucek and?Benrahma were poor today. Great result and a better performance. Better atmosphere at fame today too.

Terrible first 25 minutes but then Rice clawed us back into the game Gerrard style.
The defence was shocking and they looked like had just met.
Antonio ran at the Arsenal defence with great fire In his belly.
2nd half we matched them with better organisation with Moyes listening to Rice.
Great Bowen goal and we deserved the point.
But we got that despite of Moyes not because.
