Players back after three weeks holiday

David Moyes has confirmed that West Ham players will receive their three weeks contracted holiday  from tomorrow but says he hard work will begin Monday 16th August when the first team squad report back for training,

It will give the manager less than four weeks pre-season before the new Premier League season starts again on Saturday 12th September.

The gaffer told reporters post-match “We’ve just sort of pulled things together in the last week. We’re still waiting on final bits on exactly where we might go and what it might be but we have got the main bits in place with return dates and testing for when they all come back.”

“I think the players need a break. Then they’ll come back and we will take it up a notch. They need time to reflect, then come back.

I want high standards in all the games, I want a group of players that will give me a level of consistency. I can’t put it down to practice on the training ground but I need to drive that home with the younger players improving, I am hoping we can get more towards that as we go on.”
