Claret & Hugh have been informed within the last 30 minutes that the likelihood of West Ham signing Evan Ferguson has increased.
The Hammers are believed to be entering a second day of negotiations for the Brighton striker, who previously worked under Graham Potter.
When we asked if there was any truth in a reported £50m transfer going through, C&H were told: “It won’t be that much. The clubs are getting closer, and the player wants to work with the new manager (Potter).”
Other outlets seem to be suggesting that a loan deal with an option/obligation to buy is the most likely outcome for the transfer of the 20-year-old Irishman.
When asked how likely the deal was to happen, we were told: “Highly likely, the player wants it, and the clubs are talking.”
That said, both clubs were talking and terms were agreed with Brian Brobbey a few days ago and that broke down so anything can happen. However, Ferguson is believed to want a new challenge and is aware that is is not first choice under the current Seagulls coaching set-up.
What was relayed to us when it was suggested Arsenal might be interested isn’t really printable, but suffice to say reports of Gunners’ interest in Ferguson could be described as nonsense
potter must bve confident he can get evan to hit form again
Ferguson has only scored 2 goals since November, 23 and played 12 games this season, 10 as a substitute. His own Manager said in the press conference that he has failed to build up his resistance to injury! He has only just returned after missing 7 games with yet another injury and not match fit. Why on earth are we wasting 2 days negotiating with him even for a straight loan? As for Arsenal being interested, they have just had a first offer for Ollie Watkins turned down!
Pepi has a much better record with 11 goals in 18 league games all competitions this season and got a goal and assist in last night’s Champions League game for PSV against Liverpool. Unfortunately there are reports that he suffered a serious knee injury in the 76th minute which may explain why a second bid has not been made. This has yet to be confirmed by his club.
Let’s hope they get the man in because when when he was him at Brighton he was a different player with him than he is now with the manager now and I think he will get him back to how he was that would be great for West Ham
are you sure you used all the right words in the right order? it was an attempt at English, right?
Andrew Preview?
I often wonder how Sullivan became a multi millionaire because he’s rubbish at doing deals. We will always overpay for the player that no one else is biting on. I hope they insert a clause about his injury record, if he is injured more than 25% of the time over the next 2 years then Brighton don’t get their full fee.
Pepi now seems to have picked up a serious knee injury takes him out of the equation. Even the fit ones become injured it seems.
Hey Evan, guess what? We have found a PL club that will take you regardless of your injury, regardless of your tender years, regardless of the fact you don’t score goals and regardless of the fact that you might not play again this season, can you believe that?
They even have people that think you would be a perfect fit.
As you often say Gonzo, you could not make this stuff up.
I’m really not sure about this. At the Brighton press conference Hurlezer said that Ferguson just wants to play, that Brighton had failed to build up his resistance to injuries. Hurlezer said to sky that he simply hasn’t been able to stay injury free for a long time.
It’s very possible to see him out injured, if we do take him then it should be on loan with no obligation to buy. Another terrible decision incoming ?
Being 20 and injury prone is a real worry.
Havnt we learnt our lessons with AC, Fullrug & the plethora of other broken players we have signed previously.
We need pace, consistency and yep that’s it
Go and get Boniface from Leverkusen, we are missing a massive trick here as they were prepared to sell him to Saudi.
He would be perfect for us and the Premier league plus the added bonus is that he’s fit and would hit the ground running unlike Ferguson who would probably take a month to get up to speed….
Wake up Sullivan put a smile on all our faces and even your lil pygmy face by signing Boniface….
It makes sense….do it….do it today….f#ck it do it right now…go on….get busy….
At last some sense may prevail but probably not.
Something to get the hearts throbing.
Boniface obviously conditioned to moving but things have happened to scupper expected deal.
Completely agree that he would be ideal signing.
Previously linked to whu during Moyes reign but sustained an injury.
If there was anyway to get this man over the line do it has been some suggestion but unfortunately that don’t mean much.
Potter statement has almost given Sully every excuse not to sign anybody hope it doesn’t come back and bite him
Boniface would be a great signing Ivor but wages are likely to be an issue. Reports yesterday stated that Al Nassr had offered in the region of €60 million (£50.3 million) while Boniface would earn €15 million ( £12.6 million) per season. That compares to his current salary of €6 million a year at Leverkusen.
That would be 2.5 times higher than our current highest earner and blow our current wage structure and be completely unaffordable. He is currently recovering from injury and passed his medical. with terms agreed before Al Nassr decided to sign Duran.
You would think we need to get this done tomorrow before Brighton play Saturday because if wellbeck gets injured again this will be off . Got to say I’m worried about his injury record
Injury prone players get injured a lot.
Good job we built the “Andy Carroll Rehab Centre” over at Rush Green 👍🥴
Being slightly more serious, surely we will do a proper investigation into the nature of his ankle injury that keeps reoccuring? So a loan that only has an obligation if he avoids a similar injury seems appropriate?
Really hope this deal happens, come on ferguson become a mighty Hammer. It’s goals we need so please play 2 strikers upfront at the home games. We can’t be chickens at home In front of 60 thousands fans. We leaking goals anyway so we might aswell play 2 lads upfront.
I like Ferguson as a player but not sure when he’s likely to be fit to play this could be a mistake like fulkrug
Took the words out of my mouth. If he won’t be fit to play, just wait till the summer. Delap may also be available on the cheap.
Why not go all out for Delap now. I suppose because he’s fit, young , premier league proven (as much as Ferguson is ) and scoring goals he’s not really our type.
Give up with this bunch of jokers…
