Police share Spurs tactics

|

Metropolitan Police Superintendent Jo Edwards hosted a conference call with West Ham and Spurs supporters groups this evening to share her policing tactics ahead of two West Ham v Spurs games at the London Stadium in the space of eleven days.

Edwards who will be commander in charge for both matches explained that both matches are classed as highest-risk category C games for historic rivalry reasons but they had no intelligence to suggest any trouble was planned for either game. There will be a large police presence both inside and outside the London Stadium but police officers will be deployed with standard uniform rather than riot gear.

The Wednesday evening meeting was attended by West Ham, London Stadium 185, WHUISA, The Spurs Trust, KUMB and Claret and Hugh all of who had an opportunity to ask the Police questions.

There will an allocation of 4,800 to  Spurs away fans at the London Stadium for the cup game on 31st October while this Saturday’s Premier League game is restricted to 3,000 for the London derby.

The Spurs Trust said they thought it was unfair that away supporters will not be served alcohol after kick off while London Stadium 185 told the Spurs group that there would zero tolerance of away supporters standing in the upper tiers and fans could face ejection for persistent standing which regarded as dangerous.
