It’s been a bizarre season – a mixture of the good, bad and ugly!

How has it been for you and has Senor Pellegrini lived up to expectations?

  1. I think Pelle has done a decent job in his first season. We are playing much better footbal now and we have had a lot of bad luck. To many injuries to key players, a lot of decisions have gone against us which VAR would of over turned. I also think the Arnie debacle in January caused a lot of issues in the squad, and he is nothing like the player he was before Christmas. IMO….. COYI

  2. The problem with the question is that everybodies expectations are different. My expectation was a mid table finish or better with no fear of relegation and a better standard of football. So he has lived up to my expectations. When I factor in the horrible injury list and the needless hassle with Arnautovic, I think he may have exceeded what I would expect. Hopefully we won’t get dragged lower down as I think we probably are the 10th or 11th best this season, however we could have been knocking on the door of 7th were it not for poor officials.

If the board back him this summer, I think we’ll see a marked improvement next season.

  3. What Dom said.

  4. I agree with Hammer. Injuries haven’t helped put that in other post about this. Another reason we shouldn’t go after frees like Medel bc we shouldn’t buy 33yo especially when in RB CB we could get 22yo Enock Kwateng RB by trade can cover CB & DM but is like Wan Bissaka… Enock is quick strong & very solid defender only has 1 assist can get fwd but at 22 can work on that. We need a strong defense for RB w Zaba getting older & LB.
Yarmo I like but wasn’t sure about buyiny at 29 going on 30 with 4yr deal then gets injured bc it happened before.
Most buys were good besides Wilshere which which could gone either way & Sanchez. We need to lower wage bill. Go back to his first words ‘Youth & Pace’
A month ago we were the most improved team in the PL! Arsenal were behind us now some bad performances & last two games some bad calls & luck Man U especially & Leicester we Perez goal should of stood but we concede to many late goals.
But all and all games have got a lot more exciting better style, we are only behind Liverpool (16) in getting points from losing positions (15). Seems like we’ve been around 40 points forever & had we won last two we would be 9th bc GD but tied in Point’s for 7th. Now Palace is right behind us & Burnely are only 4 points behind madness.
Arnie situation was bad & I don’t think Pelle wanted to give him New deal & think most are thinking bite your hand of for that £30m now!
But we are playing much better & the atmosphere has gotten better, yourh are seeing more chances & that will help recruitment. The only reason Felipe even came was bc Pellegrini our top scorer, who does get stick but add a solid CF to link up with & he is more consistent IMO. He was like this in Serie A. But he is one of our top in tackles he tracks back too.
We’ve played great against Top 6, he didn’t rush players back like Bilic did. So players like Antonio actually finally got time to be fit & play well.
He has been our best manager in a while & I just hope the board back him with more then £25m at least £50m bc we can find under radar gems they’re out there. But we need a 15 goal plus CF so Mitrovic, Haller, Gomez that’s £30-40m player then need box to box CM RB/LB & CB. Hopefully we get £30m for Arnie but doubt it happens. Rice & Felipe be mad to sell especially first he is our lynch pin.
Rambling done yes Pelle has done well IMO & we will get better if the board back him.

  5. At the end of December I would have said that Pelle has exceeded my expectations – but 2019 has been disappointing – we are likely to end up very much where we were at the end of the last two seasons in terms of both points and position

So for me the jury is still out – we definitely need some energy in midfield to go along with Rice – although I still see a role for Noble

Let us see how Pelle handles the dreaded “second season syndrome” (and hopefully if Brighton are not relegated we can beat them at least once next season)
