Poll: Should Irons have offered Marko a contract extension?

|

It has been topsy-turvy few days for the Hammers.

First Marko Arnautovic teased us on social media telling us to expect news of his activities,  then came his social media statement committing his future to the club followed a club confirmation that he has signed a contract extension.

An orchestrated media charm offensive followed with an article, a video and a private telephone call to a West Ham season ticket holder and fundraiser for Isla Caton.

Marko said on social media over the weekend: “I respect all the bad and good messages but just let me tell you fans one thing, I respect you no matter what. Let’s go together because together we are strong”

In today’s Claret and Hugh poll we ask whether the club was right to offer Marko a contract extension to ensure his stay for now with West Ham?

One person deserving of a contract extension is Pellegrini, so he can continue to transform our team. Six months into his current deal, he’s doing a great job

It would be pretty stupid to believe it doesn’t matter whether the fans like Arnoutavic or not. We’ve had enough toxic atmospheres in the last few seasons to last a lifetime. So I hope he gets his head down, puts a shift in and manages to win the fans back over with his performances on the pitch.

I think so yes. We can judge all we like, but at the end of the day. No one apart from Arni and the people close to him truly no his financial situation.

It sounds like he has got his self in to trouble, with his high spending. And if some one is going to offer him 3 times his current salary, the of cause he has to take that offer seriously.

At the end of the day, if this deal means he will preform well until end end of the season. Then that is a good thing for us and a smart move. And it could end up making the difference, in us finishing 7th, and possible be in Europe next season.

Wether you like him or not, isn’t important any more. He could be the key to a successful season. So let’s get behind the team, and go again tommow night.
