Any hopes the government and Premier League may hold that the return of televised football will lift the mood of the nation are not reflected in a straw poll conducted by Claret and Hugh.

The Premier Leagie has argued that the government want football back on TV to do precisely that but fans voting in the poll have said it won’t help them at all.

We asked the question an in a quick response of just over  600 Hammers fans over two thirds (77.12 per cent) said no way whilst 22.88 per cent agreed it would help.
