Portuguese forward to join Hammers

|

Portugues under 20 forward Mesaque Dju has travelled to London today and is now set to  sign for West Ham from Benfica.

A senior Hammers source talking to us on the phone this evening ecplained; “It’s not quite done at this stage but there are no problems foreseen. He will link up with his fellow countryman Xande Silva at under 23 level.”

The news was first reported by Portuguese sports daily Record.

The 19-year-old forward has represented Portugal from U16 to U20 level and currently plays for Benfica B in LigaPro, which is the second tier of Portuguese football.

According to Record, Benfica have inserted a clause in the Guinea-Bissau-born forward’s contract that would give them a 50 per cent share of the transfer fee were we to sell him on in the future.
