West Ham United sets their sights on Portuguese forward Jota Silva, with reports suggesting his departure from Vitoria de Guimaraes is imminent.
Affectionately known within club circles as the Portuguese Jack Grealish, Jota is rumoured to have travelled ‘on holiday’ to London with his agent in an effort to secure a move. Speculation suggests the player has travelled without permission but it’s to be taken with a pinch of salt because he clearly has a great relationship with Vitoria fans.
There’s no denying Silva’s impressive 2023/24 season. His 15 goals and 7 assists showcase his ability to find the net and contribute to the team’s overall attacking play. Statistically, he excels in key areas like shots, shots on target, and touches in the opposition box, highlighting his goal threat. In many respects he offers far more certainty than the potential of Luis Guilherme.
Silva offers more than just goals. His ability to win possessions in the final third demonstrates his attacking work ethic, while his success in aerial duels, despite his height, is a surprising and valuable asset.
With his contract expiring next year, Silva’s situation offers West Ham a strong negotiating position. Vitoria de Guimaraes understands this is their last chance to generate a significant transfer fee. West Ham’s potential bid of £10 million to £13 million could be enough to secure him.
Remember it is still only the rumour season
no one will admit anything for a couple of weeks yet
Yes I think take ‘Travelled without permission’ with more than a pinch of salt, that’s just typical newspaper rubbish making a player out to be some sort of contract rebel/bad-boy going on strike. Pretty sure a player can travel where he wants in the close season.
