Potential inbound and outbound transfers

|

By Sean Whetstone

First, let me say this is an opinion based personal blog and not from any inside knowlegde ahead of the summer transfer window. All figures are based TransferMarkt valuations to keep it consistent.

It makes no adjustment how the summer transfer market might be affected by the global pandemic or release fees or valuations parent clubs may hold.

Potential West Ham outbound players this summer:

Felipe Anderson £27m  Manuel Lanzini £14.4m Fablian Balbeuna £8.55m Andriy Yarmolenko £8.55m Arthur Masuaku £5.85m Albian Ajeti £4.32m Winston Reid £2.88m

Total £71.55m

Potential inbound West Ham players based on transfer rumours:

Tomas Soucek Slava Prague option £13.5m Ollie Watkins from Brentford £10.8m Alfredo Morelos from Glasgow Rangers £10.8m Eberechi Eze from QPR £8.1m Said Benrahma from Brentford £9.45m  Gonzalo Montiel from River Plate £7.2m Moussa Wague from Barcelona £6.03m Antonee Robinson £3.15m Cédric Kipré from Wigan £1.83m Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth Free transfer

Total £70.86m

Lots of people will have views which West Ham players could be sold or which transfer targets could come in so this blog is designed to stimulate the debate.

You missed out cresswell Sean must be got rid of as his costs us the most points ever in a season. At least masu who can’t defend has technical ability and pace and can play mid field as back up or even on the left side wing . Also Fred been poor bags of pace can’t cross and not that good defensively. COYI NEXT SEASON WE SHOW UP .

I always think the values on transfer market are a bit low so lets assume the lowest pirces for outbounds, anything more is a bonus.

Inbound, you’d struggle to get Brentford to part with both Benrahma and Watkins for anything less than £40m, but would still be money well spent. Cant see us getting Benrahma tho too many teams interested so more likely go for Eze. Wague and Montiel both rated at a similar price of £8-9m… personally Id take Montiel. For the money Kipre is worth a punt as a back up but personally Id stick with Balbuena. If you can pinch Eze for £15m and Robinson for the quoted £3.5m it would be around £50m well spent.

The majority of the team needs to be dismanteled and rebuilt. My question is would we get what Felipe Andersonnis worth? I say sell Haller too, he is definitely a skilled player but does not have the speed to play in this league. I want to say I am a fan of Fornals and I think he is a great player but also lacks the speed to play in this league. Peligrini bought many tactically minded players who dindt have the speed to compete in this league. Thats what it boils down to. Even Felipe Anderson in my opinion deceives to believe. He looks fast but notice hiw iften he gets chased down and loses the ball. I was so excited when we bought these players and I have no ill will towards them, i just di not think any of them are fit for this league.

  • Ian Cook says:

Morelos is not worth any money – he plays in a league with 1 decent team and and a couple of half decent teams. He frequently fails to deliver – gets sent off because of his petulant behaviour and has trouble passing in the area – has shown a bit of progress in the last season (when he was playing) but there must be better around – and yes I do live in Scotland and support the Hammers

  • Daboiflip says:

Personally wouldnt sell to much to quick
I think haller and anderson (must to peoples disgust) should be given another season if there played in the right positions and got confidence i reckon theyll be game changers.
Players i think should be sold are:
Ajeti, lanzini, yarmalenko ( one trick pony)
Cresswell, wiltshire, randolph, roberto, martin, masuaku obviously most would probably be hard to move on and i wouldnt sell all as we dont have time to build a new team just like that.
Players id like are wakins ( left sided bowen)
Souchek ( think its a given) lewis and aarons from.Norwich and some one like deeney ( old and might raise eyebrows) only to take pressure off. Of antonio and we all i ow can score Goals in the prem instead of someone new trying to ajust

  • Big Shep says:

    13 out

    Wilshere
    Sanchez (gone)
    Zaba (gone)
    Ngakia (gone)

    Cresswell
    Masuaku
    Ajeti
    Fredericks
    Hughill
    Roberto
Lanzini (only if a good bid, let him find form)
    Yarmalenko (wages too high)

    10 in

    Robinson (Wigan)
    Ollie Watkins

Try 30 mill for Pope? Maybe more

    Marquee signing

  • Marc Alexander says:

OUT. Reid, Balbuana, Masuaku, Fredericks, Wiltshire, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Anderson, Ajeti… IN.. Larouci, Robinson, Kipre, kristensen, Touré, Kessie, Benrahma, Fraser, Milik…. Not convinced by Wague, Montiel and Eze… Just rumours but i would be happy….

  • EssBeeMUC says:

I would also add Haller to the out going list. Not because he is a bad player, but he doesn’t appear to be able to fit in with the current system. Unless Moyes changes the system where Haller has good support up front, then I can’t see him setting the PL alight next season.

  • Mark Greenwood says:

Couldn’t disagree on any of those in’s/ out’s. I think it’s time to let Wilshere go (if it’s not going to cost us) as we have some decent options coming through the U23s (not least Connor Coventry). I always get over-optimistic pre-season, but I think with Diangana also coming back, we look like we have plenty of goals. I’d like to have another look at Haller, playing alongside Antonio, with Diangana and Bowen out-wide. Assuming we keep Rice…

    Fabianski
    New LB
    Ogbonna
    Diop (or new CB)
    Johnson (or new RB)
    Rice
    Soucek
    Bowen
    Diangana
    Antonio
    Haller (or new CF)

  • DJHammer says:

Whilst I agree that we need to shuffle the pack somewhat, reinforcements at full back, central midfield and two additional strikers with Premier League pedigree is vital.
If we go down the road of attempting to intergrate too many inexperienced youngsters we could implode spectacularly.

  • Graham says:

Where on Earth are you getting these figures from. We’ll be lucky to give Winston Reid away, no one is going to pay for him, and Watkins from brentford and Eze from QPR would cost about £25m each.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Agree with you Graham, the days of cheap transfers from the championship are long gone, its like people believe transfermkt’s figures… they are usually about a quarter of the market rate.

  • CzechPeter says:

My estimate would be around £50m income from player sales and than invest accordingly of course. Perhaps our board will also show some appreciation for saving us twice, in form of additional £10-15m added to the budget. There is no need for overspending, especially with all the Covid 19 thing and Autumn around the corner(Flu season and a possible quarantine yet again).

  • Mike says:

Hugill and Cullen plus some money for Ngakia, we’ll be very lucky to get anything for Reid given his wages. The valuations on Anderson, masuaku, ajeti and balbuenna look high, how about fredericks as well for 8m to go

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Good job you qualified that it isn’t based on personal knowledge because transfermkt is a waste of time in estimating real cost on average multiply its sums by 4 and you will be closer to real prices.

  • Glenn says:

I’d be very happy with that if that was our transfer business

  • Alan Taylor says:

If it really did end up being those in’s and out’s i would be a happy mn!

  • Chunk says:

Just my opinions that were all entitled to. Know we won’t all agree. Some wishful thinking in some signings but its what this piece is all about. Our time to be armchair managers again

    Out.
Masuaku, Ogbonna, Fredericks, Fornals, Anderson, Lanzini, Haller, Wilshere, Yarmolenko, Reid, Ajeti, Roberto, Hugill.

    In.
Jemal Lewis. Max Aarons. Adam Webster. Tyrone Mings. Tomas Soucek (happening anyway). Ross Barkley. Todd Cantwell. Danny Ings. Aleksander Mitrovic.

  • Mike Owers says:

What universe are you all living in. We might get some money for Anderson but the rest of the players listed by most of you won’t raise £10 million between them. We have spent the whole season telling the world how useless they all are and now we expect to be able to sell them for sensible money. Dream on.
Our only chance of a big enough budget to bring in four or five essential new players is outside investment in the Club.

  • John says:

I’d be inclined to keep rice but I figure he is a likely departure, maybe to Chelsea. I know he talks up his time at west ham but we also know from his 3xperience with Ireland that is not really to be believed.

  • ANDREW SOWERBY says:

Seriously anyone who writes an article about players leaving and does not put Cresswell in that list obviously knows nothing about football I’m sad to say but you don’t know what you are saying

  • Hammerfromdevon says:

I can not see us signing that many players, or even shifting that many players.
    Yarmolenko will probably stay.
    The rest can go.
I would be happy with… the two Wigan players, Wagué and Watkins.
Stick a loan in there for Jovic from Real Madrid.
