West Ham United v Everton: Premier League Summer Series, Soldier Field, Chicago

West Ham manager Graham Potter has gone for youth in his team selection for tonight’s late-night clash against David Moyes’ Everton side.

The Hammers’ starting line-up will come as a refreshing change, especially after the pedestrian midfield showing in the first half of the Summer Series fixture against Manchester United. Guido Rodríguez and Tomáš Souček have been dropped to the bench, with Freddie Potts handed a start following his excellent second-half display against Rúben Amorim’s team.

A very damp Soldier Field in Chicago will host West Ham v Everton

New signing Kyle Walker-Peters is set to make his West Ham debut in a rain-soaked Chicago, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka earning a well-deserved rest. Dinos Mavropanos and Kaelan Casey join Max Kilman in a three-man defence, while Malick Diouf continues at left wing-back.

Up front, young striker Callum Marshall—impressive in pre-season outings against Grasshoppers and Ipswich—will be looking to convince Potter there’s no need to sign Callum Wilson.

Lucas Paquetá, James Ward-Prowse and Andy Irving complete the line-up in midfield, with Wes Foderingham starting in goal.

It’s a bold and youthful selection from Potter, and fans will be eager to see how the mix of academy talent and senior experience fares against the old gaffer.
