Claret and Hugh understands that incoming West Ham manager Graham Potter and his team of representatives are on their way to the London Stadium for media duties.

It seems the club has decided to avoid the potentially awkward scenario of Potter crossing paths with outgoing boss Julen Lopetegui, who is scheduled to leave the training ground for the last time today.

The West Ham media team will conduct the usual interviews, videos, and social media reveals, all expected to be filmed over the next few hours. Whether they’ll go full Hogwarts for the announcement is doubtful, but perhaps the bubble machine will make an appearance.

An official announcement regarding Lopetegui’s departure is anticipated today, despite reports suggesting otherwise due to his involvement in training earlier.

Some social media sources claim that final details of Potter’s contract are still unresolved. However, Claret and Hugh is standing by the information shared earlier today, sourced from an excellent contact: the deal for Graham Potter to become West Ham’s next manager or head coach has been completed

Believe when I see it, English manager 😁. COYI

If he can do any of:

play players in the right positions,
    drop non-performers,
    implement a press correctly,
    not make curious subs,

I’ll take that for starters! 😜

Yep, shouldn’t be hard to improve things a bit at least. Never nice to see someone get sacked but boy did we need a change.

It looks like it has not been handled well but in fact that is a misreading of what has gone on. David Sullivan has always been reluctant to sack a manager. It was his decision to give Lopetegui as long as possible to turn things around (I’m sure he has not been the one leaking , “he’s got 3 games”, “he’s got 2 games”, “he must beat Liverpool by 12 goals” etc). The four game unbeaten run appeared to have justified Sullivan’s patience, until players decided that they would take an extended Christmas break. Anyway, most people have got what they wanted. I’ll give Potter two months before the pile-on begins. Wot larks.

Agree with Stephen and it’s 74 years for me.

So has Potter got three games then a review? just saying

After the manager and player changes in the Summer I said I would be happy with a mid table finish. However after Julen’s input I would be delighted with such a finish with a bare minimum of avoiding relegation

Sad to see Loppy go, never like to see a manager get sacked espcially when you can see they are trying to implement something. You could see the players were struggling though, and at least some of the blame must go to them for that!
It has been an absoulute sh**show on hows it all been handled, and we have looked like some serious clowns in all of this, however welcome Graham, and here’s hoping it works out!

Overall this feels like the arrival of saner times. Lopo was an uninspired and risky choice, given his dysfunctional past. Potter is a safer bet. I expect Paqueta and Todibo to raise their game under his man management. But we need a striker and attacking midfielder this month. Then this squad can start to show its undeniable talent. COYI

Christ knows what input Potter can have before the Villa game, basic tweaks and team selection only I guess talk about it on the bus on the way up there. More power to his arm, it’s the first time I’ve had confidence that we’ll match the opposing manager technically for some time. Have I just moved on ?

  • Stephen Whelan says:

Yes hopefully a good appointment ⚒ But to agree with many other posts it’s not been handled well at all 🤭 And I’ve been attending games for over 60 years
