West Ham appear to have missed a huge opportunity to attract new players following a string of underwhelming performances and a concerning slide down the Premier League table.
While manager Graham Potter may have viewed the final months of the season as a luxury — an unofficial pre-season to assess his current squad — the passive approach seems to have deterred potential signings.
With just three wins in 14 matches and the Hammers hovering close to the relegation zone, it’s hardly surprising the club are struggling to convince players to join.
Angel Gomes is understood to have rejected a move to West Ham, citing concerns over the club’s league position and uninspiring style of play. And today, we’ve learned that while the Hammers remain interested in Ipswich striker Liam Delap, the player is reportedly keen to avoid another relegation battle as he looks to push forward in his career.
The inference is clear: West Ham are not seen as an exciting proposition — instead, they’re perceived as a club in decline.
It’s a glaring oversight from Potter, who seems to have underestimated the damage a poor end to the season can cause when trying to recruit ambitious players.
Yes, he’s used this period to evaluate the squad — but as an advert to incoming players, the Hammers have looked anything but appealing.
Football on the back foot has only resulted in a slide down the table, and while Potter continues to speak of “exciting times ahead,” the promise of better football next season is starting to wear thin.
If the Irons boss does have an attacking masterplan up his sleeve, now might be the time to unleash it. Because if West Ham remain near the foot of the table and continue to struggle for goals, almost every other Premier League club becomes a more attractive destination.
Another article undermining potter by Gonzo . There must have been at least 10 this week . IL make a prediction the potless dwarf will throw him under the bus come the seasons end ..these articles were happening before the end end of Moyes and lopetegui reigns on here as well .
It is so easy to just blame.and complain and then suggest obvious solutions. As many have. that Will not happen. And then blame again.
We don’t need Graham potter we need harry potter to put some magic back in the club?
Even a couple of wins and 13th spot we would look like we could challenge again with a few players.
Instead we look like relegation favourites for next season!!
Need a complete overhaul. Just not sure if that’s the players or the manager or both!!
Its Potter you only need to loo up his stats in ALL his previous clubs no wonder Sullivan never wanted him Brady is to blame for this
Spot on! ..
Spot on AM hindsight is a great gift but we should have stuck with Loppy. I’m not saying he was any good he wasn’t. But we were never getting relegated and we should have endured a season of him and get a new man at the end of the season. We would have been much further up the league and may have seen our players actually enter the opposition half.
I wish potter Sullivan and Brady would go
Not sure about agreeing.
JLo brought so much discontent amongst players could be much nearer relegation if he stayed.
Not staying Potter was right choice and it might have been better the devil you know.
Hopefully he can get a couple of wins before season closes.
Saying that with optimism.
Please forget about player’s we have no chance of getting just have a proper look in the championship we have earthy coming back get finn azaz from Middlesbrough a class playmaker and goal scorer for starters.
