West Ham could yet make a late move for a striker, despite reports earlier this summer suggesting Graham Potter was happy with his attacking options.

Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee has revealed that several forwards have been offered to the club by agents in recent days, with one name under serious consideration being Victor Boniface.

The Nigerian forward is highly rated but comes with major risk due to his history of serious knee injuries.

Meanwhile, West Ham are also reported to be locked in talks over FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju. Both the Hammers and Italian side Como have submitted bids in the region of €15m, although the Danish club are holding out for more.

This all comes after the club publicly leaked that Potter had told the board he didn’t require further strikers—yet since then, West Ham have added Callum Wilson and could now return for more firepower before the window shuts.

Potter began this weeks EFL Cup loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers with no recognised strikers in his starting line-up. Niclas Fullkrug and Wilson were introduced late in the game in an effort to save the game but Callum Marshall remained an unused substitute.

We need at least one of not two CBs who can head the ball or it won’t matter how many goals Marshall can score, once Füllkrug Wilson and Boniface are all out injured

  • K says:

Clearly Potter was given a budget and identified the immediate need as getting in a couple of decent midfielders.

  • Selsdonhammer says:

For once a “Sully Special” may be worthwhile as Potter surely couldn’t be happy with his current forward options.
Good to see some potentially decent players being signed to give us a functioning midfield, so Sullivan must have found a few bob underneath the sofa cushions.

  • Jeeps says:

Boniface has been linked numerous occasions with whu.
This is just paper rumblings Sullivan has plenty of other old cronniies line up without him.

  • Spindrift says:

Before criticising Potter too much, keep in mind there’s a record stretching back many, many years of our managers publicly saying they are happy with the squad, even when there are obvious weaknesses.

  • jack says:

It’s if potter actually wants the sack

  • Carrick hammer says:

I see Southampton are going to replace Fernandes with finn azaz a player i have said on this site umpteen times that hammers should buy for 10-15 million .it will be interesting to see which one is the better buy ?

  • Hammeroo says:

Victor Boniface is only 24 and he has a history of serious knee injuries! No wonder his agent is now actually trying to flog him to West Ham, probably because nobody else will take the risk. But no worries, Sullivan will have him. DEFINITELY STEER CLEAR!

  • Darkhorse says:

Potter happy with his attacking options. I just cannot believe it , what planet is he on !!
We are doomed if we don’t get a manager who understands attack is the best form of defence

  • pat says:

Potter is stubborn he is like Amorim he will not change his tactics and he needs to go regardless of any new players we get in.

  • John Lattimore says:

Despite promising signs with game time for Scarles last season, I fear that most of our highly rated academy graduates will be loaned out again.

  • Neil Turner says:

Potter hasn’t got a clue what he’s up to.
We got Potts sitting on the bench and Rodrigues on the pitch🤷‍♂️😱

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Callum Marshall in preseason worked his socks off in attack, not used enough, Freddie Potts, Fearon all played well and not used again.

Something fishy going on with our academy players not getting into the first team ?

As for Boniface he would definitely add physicality to the front line but having 3 injury prone CF’s ?

What happened to Idrissa Gueye, not heard of this new name but if he’s rapid, skillful and physical am happy to see us get him in.

    • Peter whu says:

Would like to see more of Potts, but get the impression management see Academy players as risks, dropping points when they in fact bring a lot to a team. Potts is surely ready and if needed sub him off for the last 20 mins.

Playing Callum Marshall for 50 mins. say, would be brilliant. I’m repeating myself but I think that would be a great tactical switch in a game to have somebody like him harassing their CHs, as he never stops running. With him you could sometimes have a high press, he’d play well off of Fullkrug, Bowen, Paqueta but don’t have him there on his own, too much to ask I think. He’d get a couple of goals maybe, but his role would be like a nippy no 10, not leading the attack. Or out on loan, just so long as do not keep him in limbo on the bench when he could continue to rapidly progress his career out on loan.
