Poyet’s hopes

Poyet actionDiego Poyet is looking for game time.

And after his display in the Europa Cup match on Thirsday he spoke about the new boss and the welcome he had given the lads as he appeared in the dressing room od 2015 for the first time.

The defensive midfielder said: “He is trying to get to know us all, he has spoken to us as a group in Ireland. He has good presence about him.

All I can say of him is what I have seen of him before at Bestikas and Croatia, that he has charisma, it is exciting for everyone.”

He’s hopeful that he will get a chance to impress but knows that depends to the team’s progress in domestic and League Cup competitions.

He added: “It depends on how far we get in things like cups and Europa League. The gaffer might give a chance to some of the younger players.

“We were unfortunate last season as we lost in the Capital One Cup against Sheffield United early on, so it was difficult. Hopefully, fingers crossed, some youngsters will get the chance to play. “

Having gone out on loan last season to Huddersfield Town to get match action, Poyet told the official site that could be the case again for him this year but his objective is an Irons first team place.

He explained: “I don’t know about a loan. I haven’t spoken to anyone about it. My preference would be to stay at West Ham as that is where I want to be.”

  1. OMG why has it been necessary to write this piece . The Slug should have played Poyet last season . Noble and Nolan were abysmal all season . They contribute nothing to the team . If Poyet had played he would have gained a seasons experience and be raring to go . He will be 3 times the player the ” loyal ” but useless Noble ever could be .

  2. I agree with most things you’ve said bubbles,a bit harsh on Noble he’s not useless and if Hugh hadn’t written the piece we wouldn’t have been able to have our expert view lol

  3. After 8 games last year hammer fans and the press were asking why Noble had not been picked for England, then his season went Brests up,like many players because of the pressure Hippo put on the team by picking Nolan in the position Poyet should have filled,
For most Noble has done no wrong,
He plays to his own capability but is not blessed with speed or that special touch,
The trouble is he now has competition in Kouyate,Obieang and Poyet,if Song arrives as well
he may need to move on because in Callum we have another threat
If we get the right offer as with Downing I would let him go or even use him as bait in part of a deal to buy Austin

  4. Got a feeling that Nobes could end up as the spare pr*ck at the wedding this season if he doesnt hit the ground running. But if players get in the team because they are playing better than him then fair enough 😉
