Pre-Season Prescription I Hammer’s Future Decided

The increase in speculation and reports of West Ham interest in left sided players- along with existing bids in the RB and CF department- would seem to bear out that the management duo of Steidten and Lopetegui have made up their mind regarding the future of one Hammers’ attacker.

Reports abound that The Irons are working through a list of ‘possible’ targets including Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, Jota Silva from Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães SC and right-footed Reiss Nelson from Arsenal. This suggests pretty clearly that patience has worn thin with one fringe player who’d hoped to relaunch his West Ham story after being frozen out by David Moyes.

Maxwell Cornet had found game time impossible to come by after a falling out with the previous manager- largely over his skipping the country to have a calf  knock treated overseas and taking seemingly forever to get fit: Cornet did come with something of a reputation from Burnley as unwilling to play even through the tiniest of knocks.

Whatever it was, something caused Moyes to freeze him out. We’d written previously of the hope that he’d be reborn under the new  Head Coach.

Sadly after a couple of – at best anonymous -and at worst inept performances in pre season, it seems that judgement has been made on his future by the sudden uptick in The Hammers’ reported desire to do business for left-sided players to supplement the ‘rough diamond’ that they have signed in Guilherme.

Watch this week for one of these  trio to be progressed, along with the news of Cornet being offered for sale back to a championship side were he’d arguably be best suited.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

  • Kane, who talks poop says:

Value in the land of loans and dreams..
zouma is a decent player, we can get 20 mill for him yet clubs will bend us over knowing we want rid.
cornet I wish he’d been half the player we all hoped and dreamed he could be but. Let face it he’s a loan out to get off the books and go for pennies.
Soucek hasn’t played well since mouse tinkered with him and rice. Lack of confidence and getting back to his strengths would benefit us. He’s still a 15 mill attraction. Less than zouma which is baffling but par for the course of players you want to keep Vs those you want to ship out

  • Phil McDonald says:

Zouma, Cornet and possibly Soucek are toast. But that just makes them squad players, because the first 2 are unlikely to attract any takers.

    • B says:

No one’s likely to be ‘buying’ Zouma, but Cornet & Soucek have value, surely?

It’s all speculation and transfer imagining’s at this stage, let’s just enjoy the ride.
