Premier League is ruining the beautiful game

|

Last night was a prime example of how the beautiful game of football is being ruined by rule changes bought in by the Premier League.

The new handball rule for this season dictates that any goal scored or created with the use of the hand or arm will be disallowed this season even if it is accidental.  The handball rule does not consider any intent by a player.

VAR was bought in by the Premier League to overturn a subjective decision if a “clear and obvious error” has been identified.

The Premier League is hails itself as the best football league in the world with the most money but new rules and VAR are ruining the game and turning supporters off.

Since the Premier League is owned by the twenty clubs equally it is up to the club chairman and their respective boards to lobby and vote on change to prevent the league from becoming a global laughing stock.

I literally just tweeted Mr Gold something similar. He was against ref’s using screens on the sideline for fear of slowing down the game, but its becoming clearer with every game that the power is slowly being taken away from them. Surely the clubs now need to show a united front to get these var issues sorted once and for all.

I was there last night and the emotions from ecstasy to dread to frustration and then anger were felt by everyone of the travelling fans. It is obviously made even worse when the home fans celebrate and taunt as if they had scored a goal.
Now I have seen it back I dont agree with it but it is to the letter of the new law…yet had that incident taken place in our penalty area with Declan as the defender VAR would have ruled accidental and no pen
My concern is that VAR which I now know as Violent Angry Rage will bring back the crowd troubles of the 70’s and 80’s imagine if that decision had been made on the final game of the season and we needed a point to stay up … there would have been carnage

If this is the best league in the world according to the premier league suggest a reality check needed. As for the richest maybe but where has that got everyone ? Take away tv money and – oh dear !

VAR is being misused . But with additional rules it is now replacing refs . It’s original intent was more or less ok but now it’s reached a rediculous level of stupidity .
Having said that we are now hoping that neither Bournemouth or Villa get three points tomorrow . If either of them do it will put us 18th and in the bottom three Relegation places .
Absolutely no point in blaming individual players ,,, it is what it is and the only culprit is Pelligrini .

VAR should be good and fair, it’s the muppets administering the choices and the game. It does not need referees in Stockley Park to make decisions anyone could do that and better if they understand the rules. The rules should all be simplified a simple solution would be to roll back the offside law but introduce umpires call style decisions where marginal calls side with ref’s on field decision, likewisr handball and penalties look at the 1970’s or 80’s it wasn’t perfect but it was the same it could be made better by referees looking at pitch side monitors if they are unsure which decision to make. For god’s sake start stopping the clock for injuries deemed serious and for every substitution not rocket science is it ?
