Premier League opener yet to sell out

West Ham has yet to sell out the opening Premier League match of the season against Manchester City with under 1,000 tickets remaining un-sold on general sale.

This season some categories and bands of standard priced tickets have seen marginal increases of between 50p and £2 this season.

For the first time, the Club has introduced Under-16 concession pricing for Category A games in Bands 4 and 5. These tickets are £10 cheaper than standard match tickets.

Claret members continue to get a £5 discount from all match day tickets.

With only 3,000 general tickets going on sale for each game it will be disappointing for the club that over a third remain on general sale for the first game but the opening game has been moved to a lunchtime kick-off and is televised on BT Sport, many supporters will be on summer holiday and expectations might be low against the Premier League champions.

There are 54,000 season ticket holders this season some of which could also be on holiday and unable to attend the game, the ticket exchange will not open until a game is officially sold out. All that said I would be surprised if the game doesn’t sell out by next week.

  1. Im a claret memeber I’m ok 🙂 got my ticket already wooohooo can’t wait ⚒COYI ⚒

  2. I am not surprised it’s not sold out. I’m a season ticket holder.I am 71 years of age, so I’m quite happy with what I pay for a season ticket in Band 3. However, my son, his wife and their 3 children are all Claret members. They can’t go to many games, but can go to the Manchester City game (probably the only one they’ll get to this season. For Band 3 seats they have had to pay £60 per ticket with no concessions for the kids. Add that to the cost of their Claret memberships that is £100 for my son and his wife and £85 for each of the 3 kids. Booking fees are £5 for the 5 tickets That’s £460 for one match! Far more than my season ticket! Affordable family football? This isn’t Arsenal you know!
