Crysencio Summerville’s arrival at West Ham United is without doubt a really positive development for the club. The young winger possesses exceptional pace and directness, qualities that will add a new dimension to the Hammers’ attack.
His arrival should hopefully address and area of the pitch which has been something of a concern for some time. Whether it be Felipe Anderson, Maxwel Cornet, Pablo Fornals or anyone else, the £124m spent on the position in recent years has failed to provide a consistent performer. Hopefully that is something that is about to change.
Summerville’s speed and ability to take on defenders will no doubt create scoring opportunities and stretch opposing defences. His directness of play can also disrupt opponents and create space for teammates. In many respects, the former Leeds wingers toughest task may be breaking into the first team but his cameo against Manchester City was encouraging.
Manager Julen Lopetegui will provide Summerville with the time and support he needs to adapt to his system and the demands of Premier League football.
It could be the plan to have to have Jarrod Bowen play through the middle, Mohammed Kudus out wide on the right, Lucas Paqueta in the number 10 role and Summerville in the left wing position.
A mouth-watering prospect!
With patience and development, Summerville can become a key player for the Irons and hopefully solve what has been a big problem position.
Why would you move Bowen to play through the middle where he is least effective and went missing in many games last season when he was asked to play there, plus the fact we’ve signed Fullkrug for that very role ?
