West Ham Academy player Kamarai Swyer has signed for Northampton Town on a two year contract. The 22 year old free agent will join former West Ham player and coach, Kevin Nolan at the Cobblers.
Swyer can operate in midfield or as a winger, and has 18 goal contributions in the Premier League 2 last season.
Swyer joined West Ham as an eight year old, and made his first team debut in a Europa League tie against FCSB in November 2022. He has spent some time on loan previously at Crawley Town in 2023 and made eleven appearances, yet was recalled by West Ham in January 2024.
Kevin Nolan believes the player has huge potential, “He’s hungry, technically gifted, he takes people on, and is a good athelete. We’re excited to welcome him to the squad and I look forward to working with him.
We think we are getting him at a good time. He is on an upward curve, he had a standout season in Premier League 2 last season with eight goals and ten assists.”
He’s been at West Ham most of his life, so it must be difficult to leave. But the opportunity to be a 1st team professional must be exciting and I wish him well on his journey.
Once a Hammer…
Isnt this just typical of the rubbish West Ham under Sullivan … looking a youngster, who had 18x goal contributions last season.
Compare that with the current WH 1st team forwards or midfielders, then this kid is miles ahead of all of them.
Now shouldnt such a kid be valued, nurtured and built up for the future at West Ham.
Oh no, WH gonna spend a few more millions on useless players again, and repeat the same mistakes, also holding on to a useless manager who cannot develop talent. Oh boy? Here we go again !
Miles ahead? You think youth team football is even in the same galaxy as premier league football with teams full of internationals?
There’s the old boy network in action. None doing a favour for old mate Nolan.
