PSG Keeper linked with Hammers

|

douchezPSG goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez has reportedly held initial talks with West Ham over a January move claim the French media today. The 35-year-old is currently third choice at the French club and his agents are looking for a career swansong in the Premier League.

According to L’Equipe, Douchez visited a London club recently, which is understood to have been West Ham.  Douchez has only played 10 league games for PSG since he signed for them from Rennes.

The Hammer’s third choice keeper, Raphael Spiegel’s contract is due to expire this summer and a contract renewal appears extremely unlikely despite being just 23 years of age. West Ham are likely to be in the market for another keeper to replace Spiegel to challenge for the No.2 spot but Douchez seems an unlikely candidate considering his age.

This story has all the hall marks of agent talk to me. As we have said with previous transfer rumours. We have to take all these early rumours with a very large pinch of salt. The West Ham transfer kitty cupboard is bare after spending so much in the summer. We are also up to our limit on Financial Fair Play wage bill. That said, never says never, we may be in the marker for one player come January but a goal keeper must be way down the priority list.

Not just Spiegal,we have Randolf and a good youngster,
Can this boy play right back if not we don’t need him,

Might not be a bad idea. Depends if he is going to be cheap or not. Spiegel is probably never going to break through, and he needs first team action if he wants to make something out of his career, hence I can see him leaving. The club might be interested in a back up such as Douchez until the young Howes (haven’t seen him play, but they say he is the real thing) matures.

Rachael Spiegel? I think it would be tough for her to break through!
