West Ham United could be a ‘good option’ for Christian Pulisic
Clint Dempsey, the former Fulham and Spurs forward, believes West Ham United could be a ‘good option’ for Christian Pulisic if the USA international is allowed to leave Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer.
A £57 million signing from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019, there was a time – during the lockdown – when Pulisic looked capable of evolving into the Chelsea’s second Eden Hazard coming , such was the confidence and the craft flowing through him.
Pulisic has not come close to emulating those exhilarating performances over the last two-and-a-half years, however. He scored just once and set up two more goals in 30 games across 2022/23.
According to The Athletic, Pulisic is hoping to become the latest in a long line of high-profile departures from Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of the Arsenal-bound Kai Havertz and the Manchester United-liked Mason Mount among others.
For now, a move to West Ham maybe hypothetical but it can’t be ruled out. We do need a a winger though, and Pulisic could set David Moyes back slightly less than the £40 million Leicester City want for Harvey Barnes.
Dempsey – speaking in an interview with CBS Golazo said “I think that La Liga would be a good option, and I think there are still teams in the top six where he could get in. Someone top four or top five,”
“I like that league for him, in the way that he plays and the way he can connect with people. How he can use his speed to create chances.
“And I still think that the Premier League is a good option for him. There are other teams in the top six. I think West Ham could be a good option. There are more options out there.
“The most important thing is you go somewhere where you are going to play, where you like the style and the coach believes in you.”
Would be a terrific signing playing in a 10 role close to Scamacca with Barnes/ Cornet and Johnson/Bowen either side..!! A dream front 4 worh Paqueta and Palhinha in CM.. A dream front 6 but will we ever see this under Moyes NO.
