Pundit and fans slam Yarmolenko – he must be punished

Andriy Yarmolenko took a serious hammering after his attempt to win a cheap cheat’s penalty against Kidderminster this afternoon.

Pundits and fans alike waded into the Ukranian after he collapsed in the area with recordings showing nobody had touched him.

He shamed his team-mates, the club but chiefly himself and Claretandhugh really hopes the manager fines him big time for his horribly embarrassing dive. It was awful.

Top writer Henry Winter threw the book at the Ukranian saying: ‘Yarmolenko guilty of one of the worst pieces of simulation this season. He had a chance to shoot but dived. Against sixth-tier opposition. Shameless. Can’t believe old-school, principled Moyes would approve.’

Winter is one of the calmest and most composed writers and guys generally in the game so his words represent the most serious criticism of the player.

We said it earlier and will say it again: CandH never wants this character to wear the claret and blue again – shocking, utterly shocking.

He wasn’t alone with most fans looking on in horror at his ghastly play acting which drew a storm of protest from across social media.

Here are a few random examples:

Pundits and fans quickly took to social media to criticise Yarmolenko for his clear simulation

  1. Not sure what all the fuss is about, it was a dive but the Kidderminster player put his foot out, the. embarrassment should be enough of a punishment. As for fining him, don’t be so ridiculous that is never going to happen, we were desperate for a goal,he expected more of a challenge that didn’t come and did what all forwards are coached to do, wait for the contact and go down. We should be better at it than we saw today but too often our players don’t take advantage of the way the dame is refereed th3se days. It’s all well to believe this is the game of decades ago but it isn’t now you have to play the rules of the game today and in today’s game cheats prosper if we want to be top four adjusting to the times in which we play is something we should look at.

  2. It’s NEVER pretty to watch when players dive, but he’s not the first and he won’t be the last. Salah does it every week and I don’t hear any outrage from Liverpool supporters.

There is a rule regarding “simulation”, so Why don’t referee’s book players who they deem to have feined a tackle or injury?

Surely it should apply to all throughout our game?

  3. Plenty of players in their defence to improve our squad Mr Moyes!!! Should have looked non- league.

  4. Shouldn’t have been on the pitch in the first place!
He was only doing what umpteen players do in the Prem- not even a yellow-No consistency!
Coufal could’ve started with Fredericks in front of him.
