Pundit reckons Anderson is set for Irons cult hero status

Match of the Day‘s top pundit ( for me anyway) Jermaine Jenas could hardly have spoken more highly of Felipe Anderson if he he had tried.

Anderson of course had an enormous game against Newcastle with the goal becoming his fourth in four games.

But it’s his speed, guile, passing ability, positioning and so much more that set the Irons on fire.

And for all the early criticism from the terraces and social media the Brazilian is looking worth every penny, or Euro, of the money we paid for him.

Jenas summed it all up rather neatly when he declared that he is “exactly the type of cult hero that West Ham want at the club.”

Indeed and this afternoon’s performance at St James’ Park showed – and that against Burnley – showed exactly why Manuel Pellegrini insisted that the club went all the way and spent the required 35 million on the man.

Jenas made it quite clear that his performances are becoming a regular talking point on MOTD saying: “When I saw him at the beginning of the season I thought he was something special.

Today DeAndre Yedlin just didn’t know what to do with him. In the end he tried to take him out – he had far too much. “Everything comes so easily to him.

He makes passes, goes past players, has deceptive speed and is exactly the type of cult hero West Ham want at the club

  1. For me Anderson is our best player, better than Arnautovic and Lanzini, he doesn’t like a 50/50 tackle thats for sure but a manager like Pellegrini hasn’t bought him for that and lets be honest if he got injured in one what then ? He has still made more tackles than any other West Ham player I believe, when you look back to Carrick he was the same although he played in a different position, he used his brain to put himself in the right positions. I think Anderson will get better and better, hopefully we can improve the quality in the middle of the field to help him out and flying left back that can defend wouldn’t do him any harm either,, Lanzini will make a difference when he is fit and there has to be a chance Wilshere will come good.
