Martin Keown took a massive swing Winston Reid on BBC’s Final Score.The former Arsenal defender claimed Reidy went down too easily under a challenge from Bastian Schweinsteiger which later appeared to show clearly that the Kiwi had taken an elbow in the throat.
Keown, however, had no sympathy – not for the first time where West Ham are involved – and scoffed at the defender who had an outstanding game.
He said: “The way Winston Reid goes down is almost a disgrace. I’d be embarrassed if I went down like that. Remember the wrestling that used to be on on Saturdays? It was like that.”
Reid, though, had a great game against United and was arguably the best player for West Ham.
Reid made three tackles, six interceptions and seven effective clearances, won seven duels and four headers, and made six ball recoveries.
