Former Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola handed all the credit to Sam Allardyce after a brilliant 3-1 win over Liverpool.
And the Italian had no doubt the Irons boss’ second half substitutions were master strokes and killed the game stone dead for the visitors.
Zola – speaking as a studio pundit on the game at Sky Sports – said: “Liverpool were coming right back into things in the second half but bringing on Morgan Amalfitano for Alex Song and James Collins for Enner Valencia.
He said: “The team played really but those two substitutions by Sam made sure of things.
“After those two came on the game was dead for Liverpool – very good substitutions.”
